History

Atomsk was set up in May 2003 by Marvin Tjon and Nick Geerts.

Both active in public and in the underground scene with several projects using countless artists names in the years before, they decided to join forces against uninspired, bland music.

In the very first few months, the emphasis was centered around a combination of syncopated electro-ish beats and rather lively melodies with the raging tempo of drum 'n bass.

One of the most obvious of elements in which Atomsk is different from most drum 'n bass productions is that each of their songs have a strong melodic presence, something both producers have had in common already before they teamed up.

A number of songs from this period were backed with vocals from Renier Bormans, otherwise being busy with being a DJ and being a singer in another band as well beside his regular occupations.

Only one month had passed since the beginning of Atomsk before they scored the second place at a local contest, where they competed with bands from other genres, such as hardcore metal, hiphop and emo-rock. Since then they were booked to play in several places.

In autumn '03 the musical style ventured into darker regions, shifting more towards drum 'n bass with influences from the electro scene. However, it didn't stop them from experimenting with other genres such as minimal techhouse, electropunk, synthpop and technoid.

Currently summer '04, they are focused on perfectioning the mix between electro and drum 'n bass, as well as improving the live stage performance.
